Elaine Hirschowitz is an experienced pyscho-analytic therapist, an occupation therapist, divorce mediator and an artist.

She has lectured extensively on the therapeutic use of art both at local and international conferences. The art process mobilizes powerful psychological mechanisms which transfigure suffering and provide insight and healing.

Her work reflects the importance of the body in particular the female form as inspiration and its struggle with pain and suffering which unites her role as an artist and therapist and helps to communicate her subjective emotions through imagery.

Her use of figure drawing from life, painting and print making reflects her efforts to find harmony and balance in a chaotic often cruel world. The works are a culmination of her life experiences expressed on canvas and paper. Whether the subject is a vase of flowers or the human from it reflects her joy of beauty and symmetry and balance over confusion and catastrophe. A sense of movement pervades the image.
