The Daville Baillie Gallery at Victoria Yards is pleased to announce its first exhibition of 2018, a group show celebrating its new premesis and the artists who produce art work in this new city development.
ALL IN ONE: A VICTORIA YARDS SHOWCASE includes artists who have resident studio space at the Victoria Yards in Lorentzville, Johannesburg.
Victoria Yards is an inclusive art and design community that, according to its developers, “presents a uniquely integrated urban complex that is as much about social development as it is about commercial enterprise.”
Daville Baillie Gallery moved to Victoria Yards in November 2017 and has enlarged its exhibition space to a double volume 400 sq metres. This has allowed us to celebrate the work of all Victoria Yards artists in one showcase as an acknowledgment of the tremendous hive of creativity surrounding the Daville Baillie Gallery now.
The works on exhibition range from painting to prints, and collage. While there is not a single thematic that binds the selection, it is an exhibition in which the artists themselves, in collaboration with Daville Baillie Gallery, have selected what they perceive to be the best examples of their current practice. In this way, the exhibition ALL IN ONE represents the preoccupations of a remarkable group of artists at work in Johannesburg, in complex and changing times.
About the upcoming showcase Daville Baillie Gallery owner Darren Neofytou says: “We are privileged to be exhibiting in a space surroundd by some of the best artsists at work in Johannesburg today. It lends new credence to the concept of being at the ‘cutting edge’of art practice in the city.
“The Daville Baillie Gallery, at the same time, is becoming a space to be reckoned with — and so we are confident that the recent work of this group of artists will sit comfortably on our walls.”
The list of artists exhibiting is not final and is subject to change.
