Having been active in the art space for the past 15 years, the Daville Baillie Gallery specialises in the exhibition and acquisition of South African art in different streams. Our primary market consists in developing a diverse yet uniform collective of a new generation of South African artists who have an already-proven track record though previous exhibition at major institutions. We also deal in the works of old masters, concentrating on buying, selling and the statistical analysis of trends and critical views in the media and marketplace.
In 2017 we moved to the ever-expanding development of Victoria Yards in Lorentzville, Johannesburg. Our new, double volume 400 sq metre space is situated in a remarkable collective location favoured as studio space by some of the country’s most sought after artists. It is our intention to develop relations and foster new work for our gallery in this context.
We pride ourselves in understanding artists and art buyers alike. We consider synergy between aesthetics and investment, and strive to exhibit art of excellence that uncompromisingly represents the South Africa of now. Yet art, with its subjective basis, requires defined and objective classification and it is with this mind that we lend a level of expertise to defining past, present and future positions.
All art has a place, and there are more reasons today than ever before to understand its beauty, its value and its importance.
